Drivers Protest Proposed Ban On Commercial Buses In Abuja

ABUJA, May 28, (THEWILL) – Hundreds of commercial drivers under the aegis of Owners and Drivers of Mini Buses Association, Tuesday, stormed the National Assembly to protest the proposed ban of mini-buses from operating in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with effect from June 3.

The protesters who carried different banners described the new policy as “obnoxious policy on transport,” saying it is “not mass friendly” and should be rescinded.

Some of the banners read: “We are Nigerians, give us our right to work please,” “We are not in military regime, we are in democracy, hear our cry,” “We’re part of the organised labour, we are not touts, live and let live,” “SOS, SOS, save our jobs, don’t throw us into starvation and death. Save our jobs,” “NASS, save our families.”

Other banners read: “We are legitimate drivers and conductors, NASS stop this impending slavery,” “Is government afraid of competition? Live and let live,” “Create jobs not joblessness.”

A member of the association, Prince Paul Omeire, who addressed the press at the venue of the protest disclosed that the objective of the protest was to get the National Assembly to get the FCT Transport Secretariat to change the policy.

“We are member of Owners and Drivers Association, and we operate the town service transport. We own the buses and drive them. Our problem is with the Transport Secretariat of the FCT.

“The new transport policy is that we should stop operation in the city on June 3rd and this means that at least 25,000 drivers with their families and other extension will suffer. We create jobs and we don’t know why they want to create joblessness,” he said.

Topic: Man Beats Wife To Death Over N500 In Lagos, locks her Corpse.

This is a pathetic and yet dreaded situation. Even policemen are afraid: “This is not the first time he is doing this. The first time they lost their daughter, he locked her [corpse] up in the room preventing everyone, including his wife from coming inside.
"Till date no one can tell what he did with her corpse. As you can see, everyone is afraid of him in this area.”That was the much a female resident, identified as Nwankego, could say due to fear for her safety. Oronna Street in Abule-Egba area of Lagos was on Monday thrown into confusion after a 60-year-old man who allegedly killed his wife over his missing N500, locked himself up inside their home with the corpse.Reports said fight broke out after the man identified as Gbadebo Elegbede, accused his 17-year-old son of stealing his N500 at about 7am. His wife, Maria, was said to have defended his son, her action reportedly led to a verbal confrontation with her husband, which degenerated into a scuffle.

In the process, Gbadebo was said to have hit his wife with a hard object on the face, causing her to slump.

His son, Johnson, was said to have attempted to lift his mother from the floor only to discover that she was motionless and bleeding from the mouth and nose.

Johnson reportedly ran out to alert neighbors to come to his mother’s help, but they met the door of the apartment locked. Gbadebo is in and threatening that he would kill anyone who force the door open.

Eye witnesses said some of the deceased’s relatives who rushed to the scene were also prevented from seeing Maria’s corpse as the door was still locked and they are afraid for their life.

Surprisingly, according to vanguard, policemen at nearby divisions who were contacted said they had not been informed about the incident. As at 4pm on Monday, Gbadebo was still inside the room with Maria’s corpse and no one could go close.hmmmmmm Wonders really originates from Nigeria...

Man gets a dirty slap on his face after proposing to his girlfriend in public.

Words can’t describe the feelings of a man who gets a dirty slap on his face after proposing to a woman in public.
A lesson to all men. Be sure before you make the moves because a public show of affection can become a public shame.

This is why we make a deal when people get engaged because proposing is always hit and miss. In this case the girl didn’t miss though.

This dysfunctional couple were photographed at Shepherd Bush underground station in London during what was supposed to be an ‘Aw!’ moment. It turned into an ‘Ouch!’ moment seconds after the man went the down on one knee and asked the woman to marry him.

She responded by giving him a slap across the face as people watched in shock.

Someone said this is the kind of thing that makes someone turn gay.

According to eye witnesses, the Pastor had embarked on his journey from Apapa and proceeded to preach to the people on the bus, using very strong words like “If you wear trouser you’ll go to hell! The Devil invented Make up! Weave-on is from Marine Kingdom! If you have pre-marital sex you will burn in hell and your skin will peel!”
It was learnt that the people in the bus were so moved and some started falling under the anointing.
Eyewitness, Mr. John Mbakogu, who was on his way to his shop at Ladipo said, “People were just falling as he was laying hands. One man almost fell out of the bus under the influence of the Spirit. It was amazing until he raised his hands to cast the demons out of one girl, and 2 Durex condoms fell out”
“The angry men in the bus who had been having pangs of guilt due to the pastor’s preaching about sex suddenly got really angry and pounced on him, who all of a sudden started shouting, I also preach safe sex! (lol) Safe sex is good!”
However, Policemen had to be called to the scene to save the pastors life. So far 2 arrests have been made, and the Condoms have been kept as evidence

Sonali Mukherjee fights for Justice

Watch this video
Sonali Mukherjee (Indian acid attack victim) had everything going for her. At 17, she was a beautiful, intelligent and ambitious young woman, dedicated to excelling in her studies, Mukherjee's life changed after three male students from her college started harassing her. She didn't respond to their advances, so they threatened to destroy her.
On a hot summer day when Mukherjee was fast asleep on the roof of her house, the three men threw a jug of acid on her. For the first few seconds she was in shock and didn't know what had happened.
"All I could feel was this tremendous amount of pain, it was burning, like someone had thrown me into a fire," she tells CNN 10 years after the 2003 attack. In the fraction of a second it took for the acid to melt her face and part of her upper chest, Mukherjee lost her ability to see, hear, eat, walk and talk.
Mukherjee, now 27, said she looked and felt like a corpse.
"I had hardly even lived my life, but that one incident changed the entire meaning of my life. It felt like the light had gone out all of a sudden, and darkness had surrounded me on all sides. I had no hope, I didn't know what to do," she says. "I decided I don't want to die like this, or live like this. I decided I can't give up, I have to get better, I have to punish those guys and I have to support my family. I held my father's hand and crawled back to life."
Her father sold their family's ancestral land, gold and spent every penny of savings on her treatment. Ten years and 27 surgeries later she is still fighting for justice. The men who scarred her for life were freed after just two years in jail.

Depression in women, a warning sign of stroke...

Findings suggest that depression may be a stronger risk factor for stroke in mid-aged women than was previously thought. A stroke occurs when damage to an artery deprives the brain of oxygenated blood, causing brain cells to die and allowing toxic chemicals to build up. To spot the signs of a stroke? Keep the “F.A.S.T.” acronym in mind: Face drooping. Ask the person to smile. Is the smile uneven? Does one side of the face droop or feel numb? Arm weakness. Ask the person to raise both arms. Watch to see whether one drifts downward slowly. Also ask whether one or both arms feels weak, tingly, or numb. Speech difficulty. Is the person’s speech slurred or garbled? Is the person able to understand you easily? Can the person repeat a simple sentence accurately? Time to call for help.

Depression is a serious condition that can impact every area of your life. It can affect your social life, relationships, career, and sense of self–worth and purpose. Depression is common in women and according to the National Mental Health Association, about one in every eight women will develop depression at some point during her lifetime. If you’re feeling sad, guilty, tired, and just generally down you may be suffering from major depression. Other symptoms include: Loss of interest in activities you enjoy, Suicidal thoughts or recurrent thoughts of death, sleep disturbance, Appetite and weight changes, difficulty concentrating and lack of energy and fatigue.  But, the good news is, depression is treatable. The more you understand about depression’s and its impact on women, the more equipped you will be to tackle the condition.  To avoid depression, connect to others. Isolation makes the depressed feelings worse.  Schedule socially positive and nuturing activities even if you don’t feel like it. Seek out meaning and purpose through activities and relationships. Don't restrict your life to things that are easy and meaningless, like TV. Don’t  believe that doing something meaningful would take too much energy; truth is, the less you do, the more tired and worn-out you feel. Give to others, the more you give to others the better you feel, don't just give to people closest to you, hoping for something in return. If we reach out to others who are suffering or less fortunate, then we feel the benefits of giving and often our mood will improve.

Womders they say will never END......
There has always been a saying that people who act fetish roles in movies often posses the same characteristics in real life, and so need spiritual cleansing after the roles.

Ex-Governor Bayelsa State Timi Silva Arrested by EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today (May 8, 2013) arrested the former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva. He was picked up at his No. 3, Niger Street, Maitama, Abuja home. On arrival at the facility at about 10.00 am, the Commission’s operatives were told that the ex-governor was not in town but they insisted on conducting a search of the house having obtained a warrant from the court. During the search, vital documents were obtained. Ironically, the ex-governor who was said to be out of town was later found hiding in a dingy corner in the upper chamber of his expansive mansion.

He was immediately whisked away and is currently being interrogated at the Abuja headquarters of the anti- graft agency. He is being grilled in connection with fresh evidence linking him with a bouquet of fraudulent transactions that borders on money laundering. Part of the new evidence includes a number of eye-popping real estate acquisitions in Abuja.

The arrest of the former governor is sequel to his refusal to honour invitations by the Commission. Rather than appear before the EFCC, he got his lawyers to inform the Commission that he was unable to appear because he was sick, and hospitalised in Lagos. The lawyer had promised to appear with his client on May 7, 2013 but failed to do so.

The Commission warns that it will not longer tolerate the antics of suspects who treat its invitations with levity.
