Responding to the questions by newsmen at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu said that although Nigeria had not reported any case of the disease, the threat was already real.
There is currently no vaccine against Ebola virus, thus Chukwu urged Nigerians to immediately seek medical attention if they have fever.

Unemployed graduate attempts suicide by jumping out of speeding bus in Akwa Ibom(Photo)

An unemployed engineering graduate of Ekiti State University, Mr. Sunday Omotayo, was on Wednesday prevented from committing suicide by the police and prison officials in Akwa Ibom. Omotayo, who caused a stir along Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, when he deliberately jumped out of a speeding Toyota Hiace bus, expecting to be crushed to death by other vehicles, said he was tired of life as he had been searching for a job for the past 10 years after graduation.

According to Punch,Some policemen, who were on patrol at the time of the incident, told a Punch correspondent that Omotayo had in the morning gone to the state prison asking the officials to either kill him or make way for him to rot in the prison. A prison officer, who craved anonymity, said they saw him – well dressed and wearing a tie – running towards them. He added that his action forced them to become alert with their guns. He said:

“The next thing he said was ‘shoot me, shoot me, I want to die, I am tired of this world. He added that otherwise, we should allow him to enter and die inside the prison.'
The official stated that Omotayo was later overpowered by the police, who counselled him and forced him into a bus heading towards the Ibom Plaza roundabout. An eyewitness, Mr. Effiong Bassey, said Omotayo jumped from the bus into the major road for other vehicles to run over him. Lying on the main road leading to Akwa Ibom Government House, it took a while for policemen to get him out of the road.

Omotayo insisted that he must put an end to his poverty-stricken life by committing suicide. He said..
"There is no state that I have not gone to in search of a job in the past 10 years. I came to Akwa Ibom because this is my last hope because of the stories of Governor Godswill Akpabio and his uncommon transformation. I came with the hope that with what is going on in the state, getting a job would be easy so that I can begin to be a man. But since I came, I discovered that many people from Akwa Ibom are also crying because of poverty and joblessness.

For allegedly trying to steal a year old girl from her parents’ house early this morning, a 31-year old woman is currently being interrogated by the police at Ajuwon Station for kidnapping.

The suspect, Blessing Aransiola, was caught by the girl’s father, Mr. Seye Adanri, 34, as she attempted to escape with the girl, Oreoluwa Adanri.
Narrating the incident this morning at the Ajuwon Police Station where the suspect was taken to, mother of the girl, Mrs. Adebisi Adanri, 29, who lives with her husband at 21, Ademola Coker Street, Alagbole, Ogun State, said she was woken up by the cry of her daughter in the hands of the suspect around 4.a.m.
“She was trying to run away when my husband ran after her and caught her. I raised an alarm to draw neighbours’ attention to the incident and everybody came out to assist us,” Mrs. Adanri narrated.
She disclosed further that the suspect got into her house by tearing the window net.
“She picked up the baby as she was sleeping on the bed by the window and stole N5,000 kept in a purse,” she added.
But in her statement to the police, Blessing, who said she was homeless, denied stealing the baby and the money.
She told her interrogators that she was looking for where to sleep when she saw that there was a verandah near the window of the couple’s house.
“I was looking for a place to sleep when I saw the verandah. I was trying to sit down when the net got torn. I was wandering about, I didn’t steal any baby or money.
Last year November I sustained injury on my leg and I couldn’t walk properly again. Later, I developed problems in my eyes and I couldn’t see. Since then I have been moving about,” she stated.
She disclosed further that she was living at 5, Modupeola Street, Iju-Ishaga when co-tenants conspired against her and labelled her a thief, adding that this made the landlord to send her packing.
“I am not a thief. They accused me of kidnapping but I am not a kidnapper, I was just wandering about because I have nowhere to sleep. I did not kidnap any child,” she stated.
A resident of the area, Labinjo Abayomi, warned that the police at Ajuwon should not try to cover up the case, adding that residents were ready to ensure that the suspect was brought to book.
Another resident who identified himself as Soji Ademuyiwa commended the parents of the girl for not sleeping with both eyes closed, adding that but for their vigilance, the suspect would have taken the baby away.

An Angelina Jolie lookalike forced a taxi driver to have intercourse and perform a sex act on her before stabbing him when he couldn't satisfy her for a third time.
Nicolae Stan, 35 said he was hired by Romanian Luminita Perijoc to deliver some bags to her apartment in Tulcea.
Perijoc, 31, dragged him in and demanded sex. When he refused she drew a 10cm knife and forced him to undress, a court heard.
When he couldn't perform a third time, she stabbed him at least six times and he managed to escape and phone the police on his mobile.
Friends told local media that Perijoc models herself on Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie.
She originally tried to claim she was the victim in the attack but a court rejected her claims.
She was sentenced to five years but then it was suspended to four years because she had been impaired by high strength medication.
Mr Stan said he could have tried to overpower her but worried people would believe he had raped her so he tried to escape without hurting her.

He said: "I think she wasn't used to anyone saying no because she flew into a rage when I declined.
She took out a knife and forced me to undress and have sex with her. But she wasn't satisfied and wanted sex again.
When I refused she attacked me with a knife, and forced me to have sex with her but she still stabbed me."
He said the worst thing was that people tease him for spurning an Angelina lookalike in the first place.
Mr Stan said: "It is terrible. I am now a local celebrity, everyone is talking about me.
They don't understand why I refused her, but they do not know what it is like to have a mad woman yelling at you at knifepoint.
They look at her, then look at me and laugh. But I think anyone would find it impossible to perform with a knife at their throat even if they were with Miss Romania."
