"I played dead to survive"-Boko Haram survivor shot in the face tells his story

Ikenna Nzeribe was the sole survivor after assassins from Boko Haram stormed his Nigerian church in 2012, just 60 miles from where the jihadists last month abducted more than 200 girls.In an interview with CNN,he told his sad yet triumphant story
The church massacre remains vivid for Nzeribe three years later — as are the scars on his face, neck and arm.The Muslim extremists fired shots into the air and shouted “Allah Hu Akbar,” or God is great.
Nzeribe and 13 other Christians hit the floor.
They were mourning how Boko Haram earlier had killed three fellow Christians, but now Boko Haram was coming for them.The masked gunmen shot the 13 worshippers in the head, fatally.Now it was Nzeribe’s turn.

“As soon as I saw the man, I knew it was over for me.The only thing I could do was say a last prayer, which was ‘Blood of Jesus cover me.And that was it for me.

Nzeribe, a handsome banker, was shot in the face with an AK-47 assault rifle, blowing away his jaw, lips and part of his tongue.He faked death — “until they finished,”He bled profusely.

“I would say I died in the process,But God brought me back to life.”

Rescuers took him to a local hospital in Mubi, a suburban area in northeastern Nigeria where he was part of a Christian minority and where the mass shooting in church occurred.He was later flown to London, where surgeons reconstructed his face.

Nzeribe recalled looking in the mirror for the first time post-surgery.What he saw was “a very different person,” Nzeribe said, shaking his head. He stopped the interview, wiping away the tears and finding composure after long breaths.

A zigzagging scar runs up Nzeribe’s chin to his upper lip. His mouth is even more disfigured, but at least he can talk, in soft tones. And he has a great laugh, though he can’t smile.
He’s had more than a dozen surgeries, with more pending. He’s now recovering in Houston, where he receives treatment and lives with his wife and their baby, joining a Nigerian immigrant community whose residents find the climate similar to their native country’s. His attorney, Frank C. Onyenezi, is working on Nzeribe’s immigration status.

“We’ve come a long way,” Nzeribe said of his surgeries and reconstructed face.

He’s flattered to hear how he appears younger.
“It gives me confidence,” he said of his surgically reconstructed face. “It gives me hope.”
A devout Christian whose tale has been publicized in the religious press, he said has forgiven the gunmen of Boko Haram, whose mass abduction of Nigerian schoolgirls has outraged the international community.

“The first thing I did was to forgive them.Had they known better, they couldn’t do that.”

But Nzeribe isn’t naïve: He is warning the world about how Boko Haram and its leader, Abubakar Shekau, commit atrocities with impunity.

“Everything he says he will do, he does them.It gives them a sense of fulfillment and makes them want to do more.Just like al Qaeda, they are very, very destructive.

Tanzanian Albinos Seeking Refuge From Murderous Witch Doctors Who Target Their Body Parts

Tanzania – Tanzanian albinos are hunted by people from all walks of life, from fishermen to witch doctors and murderers, because their body parts are considered to be “magical” in bringing better health and good fortune.
The threat they face is so great, the Tanzanian government has been opening shelters for hundreds of albino children to offer them some chance of building a life for themselves.

Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete, who appointed the country’s first albino MP in 2008, has commissioned task forces to investigate the killings.
In some cases, fathers have tried to murder their own children in the hope of selling them for thousands of dollars. Fishermen believe their hair will help them catch more fish, miners think their bones will bring them diamonds, and witch doctors use their genitals for treatments to supposedly boost sexual potency.
Albino advocacy groups put the number of albino individuals somewhere above 100,000, out of a total population of roughly 48 million people.
Shelters have been opening up in recent years to offer them a glimmer of hope for the future.

US Forces won't be involved in direct combat in search for abducted girls

U.S. defense and military officials are refuting any speculation that US  forces would be directly involved in a rescue effort.According to NBC news,Six U.S. military advisers arrived in Nigeria Friday to assist the nation in its search efforts, bringing the total number of US military personnel there to 18, including the 11 who are permanently assigned advise and help train Nigerian military forces. ,Two additional military personnel are set to arrive later Friday, and seven more will travel to Nigeria on Saturday

A Senior defence official said

"We've been training Nigerian military and security forces in counter-terrorism for the past two years. They have to step up."We have no clear idea where they (girls) are.There's a lot we can do," said one senior military official. "Provide intel, training, advising, mission planning, communications. But we won't be the trigger pullers."

However,Vanguard reports that,United States Marines who are already in Maiduguri  located the girls inside the forest, using some Satellite equipment which combed the forest, located an assembly of the young girls and sent the images back to the Marines on ground in Maiduguri.

Chris Brown ordered to spend 131 more days in jail

Oh no! Chris Brown has just been sentenced to 4 months plus in jail and this is just one of his trials..
According to TMZ, this sentence was handed out on Thursday afternoon for violating his probation in the Rihanna case .He admitted to the probation violation  by getting into a fight with a dude in Washington D.C.

That's all the judge needed to hear.  He sentenced Chris to 1 year in jail.  HOWEVER, Chris got credit for 116 days he spent in rehab, and another 59 days behind bars.  That leaves 131 days in the pokey.
It's possible Chris will get out a lot earlier because of jail overcrowding.
The judge could have gone a lot harder -- 4 years in prison.  But Chris got a break because the judge took into account he was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which could account for some of the violence.  The judge also ordered Chris to attend therapy sessions with a shrink 2 times a week. Chris is not out of the legal woods ... his D.C. assault trial starts in June.

So sad.That Judge ain't loyal...Hope he hangs in there..

It was like a joke between father and son. Later, I told him, I was going to take my bath upstairs. And within 2 hours  while I was away, he gave up the ghost. That was how it happened."

Boko Haram Bombs Bridge linking Nigeria to Cameroon,killing 30

A small Bridge linking Nigeria to Cameroon in Borno State today has been bombed,killing at least 30.It occurred on the outskirts of Gamboru Ngala, site of a Monday Boko Haram attack that claimed the lives of over 300 village residents.

According to Shara Reporters...The bridge links the immigration check points of both Cameroon and Nigeria.The bombing  took place on the same day of a mass burial in the town of Gamboru Ngala.

Soilders have arrested a young Boko Haram member .The arrest was made by Soldiers on internal security operation.According to The Sun,The boy, according to the Director, Defence In­formation, was arrested during a cordon-and-search operation at Any­ibe in Logo Local Gov­ernment Area of Benue State.

Two rifles, three lo­cally fabricated pistols and 61 rounds of special ammunition were said to have been recovered from the teenager during the operation.The arrested gang member was also said to be undergoing interroga­tion in custody.
