"President Jonathan didn't believe girls were abducted"-Obasanjo

In an new interview with Bloomberg TV aired on Saturday,Former president Olusegun Obasanjo said President Jonathan didn't believe girls were really kidnapped..

“On the kidnapping or abduction, the President did not believe that those girls were abducted for almost 18 days. If the President got the information within 12 hours of the act and he reacted immediately, I believe those girls would have been rescued within 24 hours, maximum, 48 hours.Don’t forget, they are almost 300 girls. The logistics of moving them is something (delay the sect would have encountered). Unfortunately, the President had doubts; ‘Is this true? Is this a ploy by some people who don’t want me to be President again, who is doing this?’I think that was unfortunate aspect of the whole exercise or situation.”
On his alleged recent meeting with Boko Haram,he said.,..

People have forgotten that three years ago, I went to Maiduguri. That was when Boko Haram attacked the United Nations building in Abuja and they accepted responsibility. Then, I went to Abuja to meet security leaders, the Inspector-General of Police and the National Security Adviser to know what is their (Boko Haram’s) objectives. Do they have grievances? Can we reach out to them? The feeling I got was that ‘they are a bunch of riff-raff; just forget about them.I then went to the President and asked if I could take it upon myself for a fact-finding visit. I want to find out things. The President was gracious and said ‘I trust your judgment. You can do thatI could not do that without people leading me. There was a lawyer who knew most of them (insurgents) and their leaders. He acted as proxy to talk to them and talk to me. He communicated my arguments, my ideas and my questions to them.I reported to the two most important principals – the state governor and President at that time. I believe that if action had been taken at that time, as recommended, maybe we would have gotten to this stage.”

Christ Embassy Denies Marriage Breakup Between The Oyakhilomes

After the many Facebook posts suggesting all might not be well with the marriage of Christ Embassy Pastor, Chris Oyakhilome and his wife Pastor Anita, and few reports online, a pastor from the church denied this allegation to Punch on the phone saying it is far from the truth. According to the pastor identified as Pastor Mercy, simple said the reports are FASLE.
Another member also confided in them and said; “It is not true; it is a rumour. All these things are make-up stories.”
Still investigating, another member of the church however said there are issues but the Facebook reports are mere fallacies. “There are issues, yes, but the Facebook post is an absolute fallacy,” the member, who pleaded anonymity, said

16-Year Old Boy Murders Parents Because They Seized His IPhone

16 year old Vincent Parker pleaded guilty yesterday to murdering his parents Carol and Wayne Parker last December. The boy says that there was no specific fight that prompted the brutal MURDER. The sadistic killer told authorities, 'I just remember getting mad,' Parker told the court. 'It's all from my dad. All this stuff like my dad taking away my iPod and stuff.'

The story gets worse. Vincent was an only child being raised by his hard working parents Carol, 57, and father Wayne, 55, in their Norfolk, Virginia home. They did everything right - they lived in a good neighborhood, and helped Vincent become an honor roll student.
But he boy snapped one day . . . and turned into a moster. On December 19, 2013 Vincent left school early while his dad was still at work. He showed up at the family home and surprised his mother - by dousing her in pepper spray.
While the 57 year old woman was blinded and unable to defend herself, Vincent stabbed his mother in the eye, and then beat her with a crowbar and metal baseball bat 'until she stopped breathing'. A medical examiner noted 25 separate smashes and stabs on Mrs Parker's neck, face and head.
The animal then waited patiently over his dead mother's body until his father came in the house. He surprised his dad and hit him in the back of the head with a crowbar, smashing his skull. He then stabbed his father multiple times.
Luckily his father didn't die from the mortal wounds. He managed to call 9-1-1 and tell them what happened. When the ambulance arrived Carol had already died. Wayne survived a short time but died in the hospital.

Yesterday Vincent plead guilty to two counts of second degree murder. A psychological evaluation found him to be both 100% sane and intelligent. He was charged as an adult and will be sentenced in September.

How man who challenged Jos Suicide Bomber died in blast meant to kill 100 football fans(Photo)

Contrary to reports that only the bomber died in a failed attempt in Jos on Saturday,4 people actually lost their lives .That night, Over 400 football fans fans gathered to watch the EUFA Championship League match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.Three people were confirmed dead on the spot in the blast while the fourth died on Sunday morning thus raising the death toll to four

According to Punch, One of the football lovers at the centre, Muhammed Ibrahim, said over 400 youths were watching the match when the incident happened.

“The viewing centre is large. Television sets were placed at various points and it was crowded and in fact, over 400 of us would have been killed had the bomber succeeded,”
Another witness, Alhaji Garba Ahmad, who said he lost his senior brother, Bello, in the blast, said the bomber had first attempted to enter the viewing centre but was prevented by a barricade erected along the road....He continued..

“He then turned back and tried to enter through a garage, but also encountered a wall between the centre and the garage,”
He added that in frustration, the bomber packed the car, a Honda Odyssey, in front of a house.
“When we saw the car, unusually packed in front of our house, my brother challenged him. He told my brother that his car had a fault and wanted to repair it. My brother then asked him to take the car away. Sensing something unusual I went inside and asked all the members of our family to leave the house. Just as my brother was persuading the man to leave our premises, he (the bomber) entered the car and immediately he started it. It exploded and killed my brother, his son and his friend.”
It was also gathered that the bomber had gone to the viewing centre earlier in the day.

An official of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Mohammed Suleiman, told our correspondent that the agency received a distress call at about 9 pm on Saturday and immediately rushed to the scene to carry out a search and rescue operation. He said that three people died on the spot, while the body of the fourth person was discovered on Sunday morning.

"Leave Maheeda Alone..She plays her role perfectly like Kim K"-Etcetera Writes...

I just found this interesting article by Etcetera who is now becoming controversial for his articles on entertainment and entertainment personalities..Last time, he got Tiwa Savage and her husband angered when he wrote on female celebrities and 2nd hand husbands...This time, he is writing on Maheeda as published by Punch ..Enjoy

For any social network groupie, a name like Maheeda doesn’t need any form of introduction.

All thanks to her for stripping down Nigeria’s entertainment Walk Of Fame or Walk Of Shame, stirring up emotions on her wake. Maheeda would have probably been sitting on a long thing if she had decided to lull her way into our hearts. But instead, she chose to put everyone on a much longer thing with her strip tease. And in the process, she snatched the “Queen of the Naked” crown from Afro Candy with her head still attached to it. Judging by her body language, anyone gunning for that crown should be ready to outstrip her and inspire more damning comments than hers, something like, ‘Maheeda please put on your pants,’ ‘Tufiakwa, Maheeda you are a disgrace to womanhood,’ ‘Maheeda please go get a shave,’ ‘Maheeda you are a prostitute, you are crazy, you are rotten,’ and so on.

These are comments that have helped in her star quest. But the clear consensus from supposed haters and secret admirers alike is that Maheeda is hot. And in showbiz, that’s the least crime anyone can be charged for. In other words, blaming Maheeda for exploiting the show part of the business whether to her advantage or not is a matter for another article.

Some of you reading this article know for certain that if Maheeda was getting paid for every of your clicks on her posts, she probably would be one of the richest celebs in Nigeria today. For God’s sake, enough with the hates. Leave Maheeda alone. Everything she does is off a well-written script and she plays her role perfectly well just like Kim in keeping up with the Kardashians. And I guess everyone but Nollywood can see her potentials. Well, who can blame our poor dear Nolly? It is not her fault that she was born blind. Whether anyone sees it or not, it is without a doubt that she has made a powerful statement and used controversy to boost her career. Her stunts are no way different from what we have seen in the past from well known artistes in other climes.
The charges brought against her by some self-righteous critics are ironic considering that a lot of our musical videos today are about shaking of bum bum by semi-nude vixens.

Is she seeking for attention? Of course she is. But aren’t we all here in entertainment for that sole purpose? Yes, she is pulling a stunt, but not a crass and irresponsible one like most people say. NBC can never be too quick to wield its hammer and lecture of why it should not be allowed for public viewing, because the kids can easily get traumatised. Some of today’s teenagers will easily wave it off as nothing. Besides, Maheeda has never said she wanted to be a role model for kids. That is Ben 10’s Job. All my life as a musician, I have never come across anything as the perfect formula for making a hit song. You can only decide a more convenient and cost effective way to publicise your works to your audiences.
. It is said that there is no bad publicity in entertainment, meaning the criticisms further point her in the right direction towards her desired aims. Nudity and music videos are two things that go great together. Artistes have been pushing envelopes for years and using their bodies as extras to woo audiences. From Alanis Morissette’s “Thank U” to Lady Gaga’s “Telephone,” artistes have been stripping down in their videos. In 1999, the American rock band, Blink 182 moved down the streets almost naked in their “What’s My Age” video. D’Angelo revealed his well chiselled abs and almost revealed his penis in his year 2000 “Untitled” (How Does It feel). Robbie Williams also stripped off his clothes and even his skin to impress girls in the “Rock DJ” video that same year. More artistes have gone nude or semi-nude in their music videos, like Britney Spears and Madonna, while Erykah Badu’s very popular “Window Seat” video shows her stripping off her clothes while walking through the famed Dealey plaza in her native Dallas.
Television in Nigeria is fast becoming a graveyard of dead and boring programmes due to the strict regulations of NBC. While videos like Maheeda’s and Timaya’s Ukwu are gaining more viewers for cable TV channels.

I recently stumbled on a TV interview with Maheeda angrily talking about the comments made by Charles Novia about her personality. It was an interview that revealed nothing we didn’t already know about Maheeda anyway. But how monotonous can an interview get, asking Maheeda how many minutes she takes to put on her panty hose? How she pictures her as someone who loves getting dressed beats me. Hello, your question should be how many minutes it takes her to get undressed. I guess Maheeda only got dressed that day because the TV station must have insisted on it. And the fact that they are not a cable TV channel. I am sure Maheeda would have loved having NBC choke to death watching her naked tattoo-riddled body on TV. Who wouldn’t! Not that the death of NBC would have bothered any entertainer anyway, least of all Maheeda. NBC’s funeral might even call for street carnivals all over the Nigerian entertainment-dom. Nobody requires NBC approval to take off their clothes.
I remember seeing a video teaser of Maheeda for the first time on facebook and I thought it was indeed interesting. But I will quickly advise anyone who intends going on a naked pilgrimage like Maheeda’s, to first and foremost develop a thick skin as a buffer for public backlash. But some entertainment stakeholders will argue that the only true contingency in entertainment is get criticised and get popular with it. I won’t be wrong to assume that a lot of people actually await her next stunt. There’s definitely no wahala in nudity as far as the world of art is concerned. In entertainment over the years, we have seen crazier things done with the intent of getting the message across.
Erykah Badu for instance got a fair dosage of criticism and respect for her “Window Seat” video. Maheeda seems prepared to deal with the consequences, good or bad. She has already made it clear to all and sundry that she believes in what she does. And I think it is great. What is so offensive about the human body anyway? Not like she is doing what none of us have seen or heard of before. People should try and lighten up and give her a break. What better way for her to drum up publicity in this already saturated industry of ours. If we all must go only by NBC’s regulations and get all dressed up every time we stand before a camera, won’t it all be too normal and normal they say is boring. And while we sit awaiting the next stunt of the nude high priestess, let me borrow a line from Russell Crow the gladiator, are you not entertained?

"I regret tweeting about Sinzu's theft"-Godwon

Last month US returnee and rapper ,Godwon opened up a can of worms when he posted a tweet about Sizu wanted for stealing 300 dollars in the USA..He tweeted ...
"At your age, you can’t make peace but have time to be thief and make the news… I have been shady but I haven’t been posting pix of two new Mercedes when I need 300 bucks so bad I had to steal."
Unknown to him his own candy theft case would be exposed. Now he told Punch he never meant to..He also acknowledged he was arrested for Candy theft but never convicted
"Somebody tweeted to me about Sinzu’s case in the US and I only retweeted it. I called him but he didn’t want to talk to me.I believe it was somebody close to him that sent that tweet to me. He doesn’t realise that people in the US are your friends but once you outshine them, they burn your cable. People don’t want to think reasonably. How could it be me? I am in Abuja; do I have surveillance in the US? The cat was already out of the bag. The US officials were already after him. I feel bad for him. If I had known, I wouldn’t have retweeted it. By the time I realised it, it was too late. I had known all along about his case. I even felt for him to be involved in such crime, he needed money. But I suggested clean money to him, he wouldn’t want it.At the moment, some blogs don’t post my music, some radio people don’t want to talk to me. It is only God that has been helping me

#BringBackOurGirls Lays Pressure On Aso Rock!

Protesters on Thursday were taking their call for the release of more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram to Nigeria’s president, as US military personnel headed to Chad as part of the rescue effort.
Demonstrators said they were intending to march on Goodluck Jonathan’s presidential villa in the capital,
Abuja, to maintain pressure on the embattled head of state to secure the girls’ safe release.

“It is the wish of this movement that this engagement will catalyse positive action towards (the) quick rescue of our abducted girls,” the #BringBackOurGirls campaign coordinator, Hadiza Bala Usman, said in a statement.

Previous street protests in Abuja have led to meetings with lawmakers at the national parliament, Nigeria’s national security adviser and military top brass.
Thursday’s planned march comes after US President Barack Obama announced that 80 military personnel had been deployed to Chad to help find the 223 girls still missing since their abduction on April 14.

Obama said in a letter to Congress that the military contingent would stay in Chad until their support in ending the crisis that has triggered worldwide outrage “is no longer required”.
“These personnel will support the operation of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft for missions over northern Nigeria and the surrounding area,” he wrote.

- Schools shut -
The deployment marks a significant boost to an existing US military effort which includes the use of surveillance drones as well as manned aircraft over Nigeria.

The Pentagon has criticised Nigeria for failing to react quickly enough to the rise of Boko Haram, who have been blamed for thousands of deaths since 2009.

Jonathan’s administration had previously resisted close cooperation with the West but accepted help from US, British, French and Israeli specialists amid a groundswell of pressure fuelled by a social media campaign.
Nigeria is hoping to tighten the screws on Boko Haram and has asked the United Nations Security Council to proscribe the group, which is said to have links to Al-Qaeda-linked militants in north Africa.
President Jonathan has called the extremists “Al-Qaeda in western and central Africa”, underlining what Nigeria views as Boko Haram’s threat to regional stability.

The United States and a number of other countries have already designated Boko Haram as a terrorist organisation in an attempt to cut off any international support and overseas funding for the group.

The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) meanwhile called for schools across the country to shut to allow a “day of protest” against the abduction of the girls from Chibok on April 14.
“We remain resolute in our resolve to continue the campaign… until our girls are brought back safe and alive and the perpetrators of the heinous crime are brought to book,” NUT president Michael Alogba Olukoya said on Wednesday.

- No let-up -
In the last five weeks, Boko Haram has stepped up its campaign of attacks outside the northeast worst affected by the insurgency, leading to fears of an escalation of violence across the country.
Hours before the girls’ kidnapping, the group bombed a crowded busy station in the Abuja suburb of Nyanya, killing 75. A copy-cat bombing at the same location on May 1 left 19 dead.
On Tuesday, two car bombs ripped through a busy market within 20 minutes of each other in the central city of Jos, killing at least 118.

There are fears that the death toll could rise further. The bombing — Nigeria’s deadliest — was seen by experts as an indication of Boko Haram’s intent to export violence and demonstrate their capability to the international community.

“They have sleeper cells all over the northern part of the country and they’re activating them,” said Kyari Mohammed, a Boko Haram specialist and chairman of the Centre for Peace Studies at Nigeria’s Modibbo Adama University.
“That’s what they’re going to do. We should anticipate more attacks, especially if they (the government and the international community) are unable to solve the Chibok problem,” he told AFP.

At the same time, there has been no let-up in the bloodshed in Borno state, one of three in the northeast which has been under a state of emergency since May last year.
More than 50 people were killed in three separate attacks this week. Two were near Chibok on Monday and Tuesday, while the third was near Gamboru Ngala, close to Lake Chad, where a reported 300 people were killed last month.
